Make Your Very Own City of Wonder

October 25th, 2010

City of Wonder It has been a long time since the last post; things got crazy at work. Just have enough free time to crunch in one review for now.

Lately, work has been a killer and fortunately for me, I found this neat game on Facebook that gave me some form of relaxation during the extreme work hours.

Yeah, I can play Facebook Games while on the job! Beat That!

The game, as the title suggests, is City of Wonder and is the newest game by Disney acquired Playdom. Coming from its other sets of games like Sorority Life or Social City which were also a bit popular, this game really has a lot to live up to. It has elements from games like Social City, Farmville, and a few others all mixed up and presented in one neat little package.

Frankly graphics are so-so for me. Not to stylish but not to crappy as well but that seriously helps with the loading speed; since the graphics aren’t that high, it’s a lot faster than other Facebook Games *cough* Cafe World *cough*. Game play is also surprisingly unique despite the fact that it is a melting pot of most of the popular game concepts on FB.

So how do you play the game? Simple, you act as if you are the ruler of a Stone Age village and make it grow as it advances through the ages. They’re actually quite helpless without you since they don’t even know the wheel yet. So you grow the population, make marketplaces, construct goods-producing structures and expand your borders. You also get to research technologies to improve their technologies to make them advance up to the Industrial Age. You can also make Marvels of the world such as The Great Wall of China or the Pyramids with the help of your friends.

There really are tons of things you can do on this game to while away the time. However, if your doing it like me, make sure you spend more time working than you do playing since you will discover that the things you can do in this game really won’t end.

Sniper Assassin Final — Long Range Killing Machine

October 10th, 2010

Sniper Assassin FinalAfter weeks of waiting, the game is finally here! The last installment to the gripping story of Shawn Davidson and his long time vendetta against Mr. J.

Published by Addicting Games and made by Sniping Games.net, we pick up to where we left off in SA4. In an attempt to taunt Shawn even further, Mr. J kidnaps Charlie and uses her as bait. Shawn sets out to rescue her and after a grueling assault, you make it back safely–only to find Ben and everyone else in HQ brutally murdered.

Similar to its predecessors, the game is a point and click sniping game wherein you follow the mission briefings and try to figure out how to meet your objectives. These objectives range from the simple shoot the target to as complex as trying to figure out how to get around obstacles.

However, unlike other sniping games, the series itself is famous for its non-stereotypical approach with regards to its missions and SAF is a perfect example of that. Aside from the simple point and shoot mission, there are missions such as destroying a car or running through rooftops to mix up the level of fun.

Also, like its previous games, SAF boasts of missions that are quite peculiar and difficult to do. It is not just your simple shoot the target anymore since you have to employ logic in most cases: such as the case of the dodging enemies or the hide the dead bodies missions.

Graphics is superb; even though they are stick figures, the graphics and animation was superbly done–especially for the cut scenes. Music is also excellent with the Spanish sounding guitar at the background which really hypes up the gaming experience. In terms of gameplay, prepare for the unexpected since by far, it is probably the toughest among the 5 games.

As for the story, well I’ll let you decide on that. However, it is satisfying to finally know how the confrontation between Mr. J and  Shawn ends. Oh, and if you missed it, there are actually two types of ending to the series although the over-all end of the story is the same.

Gibbets 2: Freeing Hanged Men, One Arrow At A Time

September 25th, 2010

Gibbets 2Ok, so news that SA5 was going to be released yesterday was rumours after all. So while waiting, I suggest you check this new game out. Gibbets 2 made by Not Doppler and sponsored by Addicting Games. Just like the first game you are the bow and arrow hell bent on freeing innocent people about to be executed in the gallows.

So you control the direction and power of the shot in an attempt to cut of the rope tied around these innocent people’s necks. The game has good physics in which arrows will not fly straight but will follow a trajectory so keep that in mind before shooting: You just might hit head instead of the rope and do more harm than good.

If you finish a level without hurting the victim then you get a star for that level. Woot! There are also bonuses and extra arrows lying around some levels which adds a nice incentive. There are other things as well that may help or hinder your progress but I’ll let you discover those. Oh, and it has bonus stages as well. Who doesn’t love bonus stages? Right?

And did I mention there’s blood and gore in this game? Although if you’re a little squeamish, you can turn that under the options tab.

Graphics is good if you like a macabre sort of cartoonish. And game play is quite nice and challenging. It can be quite difficult and tricky at times and I very much hate those birds. If you want a good stress reliever or you just have a lot of time in your hands, try out your skills at the bow and see if you’re a prodigy of William Tell. Just remember: SHOOT THE ROPE NOT THE PERSON–no matter how fun it is to get a head shot!

Upcoming Game: Sniper Assassin 5

September 11th, 2010

SA5 Teaser Pic

According to its home website, the development of Sniper Assassin 5 is now finished. The 5th installment to the Sniper Assassin series will be released in the next few days so keep an eye out for it. Incidentally, this game will be the last chapter to the exciting tale of Shawn Davidson.

In case you guys aren’t familiar with the series, the Sniper Assassin or SA series is a flash game developed by Ultimate Flash Game and is hosted by addictinggames.com. It is a first person sniping game wherein you are required to do various tasks and missions depending on the client’s order.

The first SA game was released a few years back and featured Shawn Davidson, an assassin for hire, tasked to chase after the infamous FFG corp, a big syndicate group that is the lead manufacturer of cocaine in the country. You will be tasked to destroy operations on one of the factories while doing various side missions in between.

The 2nd installment to the game starts of with the brutal murder of Shawn’s wife which suddenly sends the plot running; turning the whole series from a simple shoot-em-up sniping game to an exciting vendetta filled with blood, gore, and double-crosses.

I won’t spoil the whole game for you so it would be better if you try all the 4 games before playing the 5th installment when it comes out. That way, you can truly enjoy the story line of this great series.

What separates this whole series from other sniping games is the fact that not only does it have blood, gore, and guns but it also has a big dose of comedy and great story line as well following the first installment. The game also introduces different modes of gameplay such as various means of torture, whacking a car, and in the latest games, dancing a la dance dance revolution. Not to mention, a lot of the missions are a bit difficult and/or tricky making it quite a challenging game as well.
